Time To Clean Out Your Closet
"Clean out closet" has been #1 on my to-do list for the past couple of months. Only recently have I finally begun to tackle this project. The more I thought about this, the more I started seeing an analogy in my own life regarding a few of these things.
1. Things no longer "in season".
Some things no longer work in the season you're in, or the season you're transitioning to.
2. Things that no longer "fit".
Some things just don't fit anymore. Maybe your current occupation or circle of friends don't seem to fit into what exactly it is God is bringing you into.
3. Things that are collecting dust.
Maybe there are things that you thought MAYBE one day you would wear or use...maybe a dream or idea, maybe a relationship, etc.
4. Things that you thought you already had gotten rid of that are still there.
There are things we thought we "dealt with" long ago that seem to creep back up when things get hard. You can do so much good for yourself by dealing with these things once and for all. Once these things are gone, you begin to realize how much space it was taking up and preventing you to bring in new things.
5. Things you didn't realize you still had that actually still fit or are back "in season".
That dream you had back in 8th grade to become a song writer or a dancer? Maybe the season has finally come.
6. New shoes
Have you purchased new shoes recently? Time to start walking into the promise God has for you. Some shoes were good for the times you walked through, but you need different shoes for different locations.
7. Things worth money (ideas, etc.)
Remember your bright neon shirt from 1987 that you've just never been able to part with? These things tend to go for big money on Ebay! Maybe it's an old idea or vision you've been holding onto for years. It might be time to pull that back out and give it a fresh look.
Clean out your closet and deal with each item as necessary. Make room for the new. Don't keep yourself stuck in last season!
“There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens.”
Ecclesiastes 3:1 NIV
